Qlik

Qlik (pronounced "click") Sense is a data analytics platform, hosted by the UW School of Medicine and Public Health. It allows users to interact with data through visualizations, filterable reports, and other formats.

Institutional data will be made available through the SMPH Qlik platform, including data from campus, UWHealth, and additional SMPH-specific data sources. This will include HR, financial, facilities, and educational data. Research data will, at this time, be limited to research administration.

Dashboards and reports will be created in Qlik Sense by SMPH IT, as well as by developers from other units within SMPH, giving groups the freedom to build to their own needs and specifications.

Direct Qlik access is limited to known users at this time. As we move toward release of the Test and Production environments we will update this with additional information.

title	What are the 3 Qlik environments, Dev, Test, and Production?

SMPH is providing 3 Qlik environments:

Production: This is where applications that are tested and ready to use will live. Most end users will only see the Production environment.
Test: This is where power users help test Qlik applications that are being prepared for moving to Production.
Development: This is where development of new Qlik Sense apps and work to update existing apps will take place. Only Qlik developers will have access to the development environment.

title	How do I get started as a developer?

To get started as a developer:

You must have completed your HIPAA security training (usually handled within your first days of employment and updated annually).
Send an email to support@med.wisc.edu
- This will be a relatively simple process if you are working with a unit that already has at least one developer established.
- If you are the first developer for a new unit that would like to would like to start development, we will discuss the right person to fill the role of Stream Admin for your unit. Learn more about roles in SMPH Qlik Sense.
We will take you through steps to review a data agreement, and provide materials to start getting up to speed in Qlik Sense.
